What is Reiki Master training?

Master Level, called Shinpiden in Japanese and Third Degree in English, is the teaching level of Usui Reiki. You receive the master attunement and the master symbol, and learn how to give attunements and how to teach. When you complete it you are qualified to initiate and teach Reiki yourself.

It is taken at least nine months after Level 2, and only by students who have kept up their practice. The training is four days at our centre in Tarkeshwor, Kathmandu, each with 5 hours of training and a vegetarian lunch break. We talk with you about your practice before agreeing a date.

The Jivan Parivartan way

A women-led center teaching in Tarkeshwor, Kathmandu since 2021: thousands of sessions, guests from more than eleven countries. Groups stay small.

Reiki Master training: what you learn in four days

The master attunement

The master attunement is given on the first training day, in the same short ceremony as the earlier levels. The interval before Master Level exists because the work needs to have settled before the master initiation is given.

The master symbol and advanced practice

You receive the master symbol and the practice that goes with it. From the second day, daily practice is one to two hours, lighter than at the earlier levels, because by now the practice is a habit.

How to attune others

As a Reiki Master you give attunements yourself. You learn how the attunement for each level is given, so that you can attune students of your own.

Teaching Reiki

You learn a method for teaching Reiki: how to structure a course, and what to cover at Level 1 and Level 2.

Lineage responsibilities

Your certificate names the line of teachers your attunement came through, back to Usui. As a master you become the next name in that line for your own students, and the training covers what that asks of you.

Before you book Master Level

The nine-month minimum

Master Level is taken at least nine months after Level 2. Many students come later, after a year or two, and there is no upper limit.

A conversation first

Because this is the teaching level, we talk with you about your practice before agreeing a date. When you enquire, tell us when you took Level 1 and Level 2.

How long it takes to become a Reiki Master

At least a year: Level 1, then at least three months of daily practice before Level 2, then at least nine months before Master Level. In Nepal you need only 2 + 2 + 4 training days; the rest of the practice happens at home.

After Master Level

You are qualified to initiate and teach Reiki yourself, subject to the rules where you live.

A day of Reiki Master training

Master Level runs over four days on the same daily schedule as the earlier levels. Training is non-residential: you stay where you like and come to the centre each day.
