Sound Healing in Kathmandu, Nepal | Singing Bowl & Gong Sessions

Sound Healing in Kathmandu

A calm, guided session to help your mind slow down and your body return to ease.

Sound Healing, the way it was passed down

Sound healing is a quiet, guided experience built around tone, rhythm, vibration, and silence. You lie back and simply listen while we work gently with singing bowls and sound, and there is nothing to learn or perform. It is for anyone with a racing mind, or a plain wish for an hour of deep rest, and you can come on your own or as a small group.

People come here because the body has been carrying something for a long time., The teachers of Jivan Parivartan

What a singing bowl actually does

A Himalayan singing bowl is a standing bell: a thick metal bowl that you strike or circle with a mallet so it holds one long, slow tone. Play several together and the tones overlap and beat gently against each other. Lying still underneath that, with very little else to listen to and nothing to do, most people's breathing lengthens on its own and the body settles, which is the state the session is really built to produce.

We would rather be straight with you about the evidence. Research on sound healing specifically is still thin, and nobody here will tell you a bowl cures anything. What is well established is the neighbouring ground: music therapy is a recognised clinical field, and lying still for an hour with slow, sustained sound reliably calms most people down. Treat this as deep rest and a way into meditation, not as medical treatment.

  • Hand-hammered Himalayan bowls, gongs and tingsha
  • Long sustained tones, played around and sometimes on the body
  • Seven-chakra balancing work on request, or a mantra-led Vedic session
  • You lie down, fully clothed, and do nothing at all
  • A wellness practice for rest and balance, not a medical treatment
What a singing bowl actually does
Sound healing where the bowls are made

Sound healing where the bowls are made

You can book a sound bath in almost any city now. What you cannot easily get elsewhere is the practice in the place it comes from, played on bowls made a short drive from where you will be lying, by teachers who learned it as a living Himalayan tradition rather than from a weekend certificate.

Our center sits in Tarkeshwor, on the quiet northern edge of Kathmandu by the Nagarjun forest, far enough out that the loudest thing in the room is the sound itself. Teaching here since 2021, more than twenty thousand sessions, and guests from thirty-one countries. Groups stay small, and you are met by an actual teacher rather than moved through a slot.

  • Played on hand-hammered bowls made in Nepal
  • A living Himalayan tradition, taught here since 2021
  • Small groups, or fully 1:1
  • Quiet setting by the Nagarjun forest, away from the Thamel bustle

Choosing the right one for you

If you are new, choose a 60-minute session first. If you would rather ease in, start with 15 to 30 minutes and build from there. Tell us your goal, whether that is sleep, stress, clarity or emotional release, and how much time you have, and we will recommend the best option rather than selling you the longest one.

One session can feel deeply restorative on its own. For something you have been carrying a while, a stress pattern, broken sleep, emotional heaviness, many people prefer a small series of three to five, spaced out over a few weeks.

  • Sound & Singing Bowl Healing, 60 min: a balanced session, and the best place to start
  • Vedic Sound Healing, 60 min: inner clarity, mantra-based calm and deep grounding, also known as Tibetan sound healing
  • Mantra, Mudra & Yantra Healing, 30 min: short, clear and powerful when time is limited, and good when the mind is overactive
  • 5 Elements Balancing, 30 min: balance across body, mind and energy
  • Sound Massage Therapy, 15 min: a quick reset for tension, and an easy add-on
  • Reiki Healing: gentle, hands-on energy work, or guided Reiki meditation

Ready to step away from the noise?

Reserve your place at Jivan Parivartan, limited places, and a real person replies within a few hours.

Maybe one of these sounds familiar

You want to go deeper

You've practised for a while, and you're ready for something more committed than a drop-in class.

You want the real tradition

Not a quick certificate, the authentic Himalayan lineage, taught the way it was passed down.

You want to step away

A proper reset, away from the noise, where you can give this your full attention.

You're not sure you're “ready”

Most people who come to us feel exactly this. Readiness is what the experience builds.

…you've never done this before

Most of our guests haven't. There's no right way to begin, showing up is the whole first step.

…you're travelling solo

Many people come alone and leave with friends. You'll be warmly looked after from arrival to departure.

…you're nervous or unsure

That's normal, and welcome. Tell us how you feel and we'll meet you exactly where you are.

…you don't consider yourself “spiritual”

You don't need to believe anything. Come as you are; the practice does the work.

If any of this is you, you're in the right place. You show up as you are, and we guide the rest.

This session is not for everyone

It's a real practice, not a spa treatment. Read both lists, they're equally true.

Come if…

  • You want an hour of genuine rest, guided by someone who has done this for years.
  • You're carrying stress, poor sleep, or tension you can't seem to put down.
  • You've never tried this before and would rather be guided than left to figure it out.
  • You want the traditional practice, not a wellness trend borrowed for the afternoon.

Perhaps not, if…

  • You're looking for a massage or a spa package, this is energy and sound work.
  • You want a medical treatment. We support wellbeing; we don't replace your doctor.
  • You need a guaranteed outcome in one visit, depth comes with repetition.
  • You'd rather keep your phone on. The hour only works if you can put it down.

Questions, answered simply

You relax, usually lying down, while singing bowls and gentle sound move around and through you. There is nothing to learn or perform, you simply rest and receive the vibration, and most people settle into a deep, meditative calm.

Ready when you are.

Send us a day and time that suits you. A real person replies, usually within a few hours, and we'll hold your place.
