A Luxury Meditation Retreat in Mustang, Nepal: five days at 2,600 m
Every retreat in Nepal promises peace. Here is ours, precisely: five days and four nights at Lodge Thasang Village in lower Mustang, above the Kali Gandaki, one of the deepest gorges on earth, with Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri directly across the valley. You fly Kathmandu–Pokhara, then drive up privately. All meals, every practice and therapy, and the flights are inside the price. Nothing is sold to you again once you arrive.
What you are actually buying is silence you cannot buy in a city. The wind drops in the late afternoon and the valley goes quiet in a way most guests tell us they have not heard since childhood. Everything else (the deluxe room, the sound therapy, the massage, the kirtan) exists to hold you in that quiet for four nights instead of four minutes.
And it is taught, not hosted. Our name, Jivan Parivartan, means life transformation. Since 2021 our teachers have led more than 20,400 sessions for guests from 31 countries, and one of them will sit with you inside Gurusangbo Cave, and walk you to the cave where our founder, Nisha Ma ji, meditated before any of this existed. Groups cap at sixteen. Most weeks it is far fewer.
Most people arrive planning to think things through. By day three they stop thinking and start sleeping.

What you may feel when you sit here
Guru Rinpoche, the 8th-century teacher also called Padmasambhava, is credited with bringing Buddhism to Tibet, and he is said to have meditated in caves across the Himalaya on his way there. Mustang holds several caves and old monasteries connected to him, and Gurusangbo Cave, where you will sit, is one our teachers hold sacred to him.
Source: Padmasambhava, Wikipedia
In this tradition, a place where people practise for centuries is said to hold that practice, and to give some of it back to whoever sits down in it. Many people notice it soon after they settle: the mind goes quiet faster than it does at home, the body lets go without being told to, and a calm steadiness stays with them for days afterwards. We promise nothing, and you are not asked to believe anything. We give the cave a whole day, walk you up to the seat, and let the place do its own work.
- A full day given to the cave, about two hours' walk in each direction
- A full hour of guided meditation inside, long enough to truly settle
- Meditation beside sacred Sekong Lake as well
- No belief required, and nothing you have to perform

Practise where the spiritual energy flows
Mustang lies behind the Annapurna range, in the dry rain shadow of the Himalaya: wind-carved cliffs, white-washed villages, and one of the deepest gorges in the world. It is also full of caves and monasteries linked to Guru Rinpoche, the 8th-century teacher credited with bringing Buddhism to Tibet. This retreat is built around that, not around sightseeing.
The days are slow on purpose: yoga and guided meditation in the morning, a walk in nature, a long rest after lunch, an hour of sound healing or Reiki, and kundalini meditation in the evening. Nothing is rushed. At this altitude, nothing should be.
- One full day at Gurusangbo Cave: about two hours' walk up, an hour of guided meditation inside, about two hours back
- Meditation beside Sekong Lake, under Dhaulagiri
- A walk to the quiet spot where our founder, Maa Nisha Kabir, still goes to sit
- Five days at a deluxe lodge, all meals included
Lower Mustang, in the shadow of Dhaulagiri.
This retreat is not held at our Kathmandu center. You stay in a deluxe lodge in lower Mustang, reached by road rather than by mountain flight, so the ascent is gradual and the schedule holds up better when the weather turns. Rooms are deluxe singles with full board.

Five days, unhurried
Each day has a shape, practice in the morning, the valley in the afternoon, warmth in the evening, but never a rush. Every breakfast, lunch and dinner is included, taken together at the lodge. Mustang weather has the final say: the main programs, the cave day above all, may move earlier or later in the week, or swap places with another day. Nothing is dropped, the order simply bends to the mountain.
Kathmandu falls away
A short morning flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara, and then the drive north, up the Kali Gandaki valley as the hills rise into true mountains and the air turns thin and bright. By evening you are at Lodge Thasang Village, dinner is served, and the only sound outside is wind.
Included today: flight, private transfer, welcome dinner.
The first full breath
Yoga before breakfast, as light reaches Dhaulagiri, and then a guided sunrise meditation, the moment many guests describe as the point where the retreat truly begins. After lunch, a short walking meditation in the valley: no destination, just attention. The day closes with massage therapy, kundalini meditation as the light goes, and dinner at the lodge.
Practices: morning yoga · guided sunrise meditation · nature-meditation walk · massage therapy · evening kundalini.
An hour of silence at Gurusangbo Cave
After breakfast we walk to Gurusangbo Cave, the meditation cave our teachers hold sacred to Guru Rinpoche, about two hours up into the hills at a slow pace, with rest. Inside, an hour of guided meditation in a silence that predates every schedule you have ever kept. Then roughly two hours back down. At the lodge: rest, sound healing with singing bowls, and in the evening, kirtan: devotional song, shared voices, firelight. Of all the days, this is the one most likely to move if the weather turns.
Practices: cave meditation · sound healing with singing bowls · evening kirtan.
Where our own story began
An hour's walk brings you to a quiet mountain lake, and then to a place we hold dear: the cave where Nisha Ma ji, the founder of Jivan Parivartan, did her own meditation practice. We don't bring guests here as tourists; we bring them as guests of the lineage. The afternoon is yours: rest, a final meditation, or one more therapy session. A last dinner together under the peaks.
Practices: lake walk · visit to Nisha Ma ji's cave · meditation or therapy of your choosing.
Down the valley, changed
Breakfast, and the drive back down to Pokhara, the same road, somehow different now, then the flight to Kathmandu. Most guests tell us the retreat's real work begins here: carrying the stillness home.
Included today: breakfast, private transfer, flight to Kathmandu.

Real voices from people who arrived as strangers and left as family.
Loved by guests from 31 countries.
Ready to step away from the noise?
Reserve your place at Jivan Parivartan, limited places, and a real person replies within a few hours.
Maybe one of these sounds familiar
You want to go deeper
You've practised for a while, and you're ready for something more committed than a drop-in class.
You want the real tradition
Not a quick certificate, the authentic Himalayan lineage, taught the way it was passed down.
You want to step away
A proper reset, away from the noise, where you can give this your full attention.
You're not sure you're “ready”
Most people who come to us feel exactly this. Readiness is what the experience builds.
…you've never done this before
Most of our guests haven't. There's no right way to begin, showing up is the whole first step.
…you're travelling solo
Many people come alone and leave with friends. You'll be warmly looked after from arrival to departure.
…you're nervous or unsure
That's normal, and welcome. Tell us how you feel and we'll meet you exactly where you are.
…you don't consider yourself “spiritual”
You don't need to believe anything. Come as you are; the practice does the work.
If any of this is you, you're in the right place. You show up as you are, and we guide the rest.
What fills the days
Everything is guided, and everything is optional. You never need experience, only willingness. These are the traditions we teach in Kathmandu year-round, brought to the mountains where they belong.
- Guided meditation: morning and evening sits, taught step by step. Breath, attention, silence, held gently for beginners and deepened for experienced practitioners.
- Kundalini meditation: an active practice of breath and movement that releases what the body has been holding. Always an evening practice, never a morning one.
- Cave meditation: sitting inside Mustang's ancient caves, Gurusangbo Cave and the cave of our own founder, connects your practice to the centuries of practitioners who sat there before you.
- Sound healing with singing bowls: Himalayan bowls played on and around the body. Most guests simply describe it as the deepest rest they can remember.
- Massage therapy: traditional therapeutic massage after the day's walking, for the body that carried you here and has been carrying everything else for years.
- Kirtan: an evening of devotional song by firelight. You do not need to know the words, or believe anything. Voices together in a Himalayan valley explain themselves.

Three small steps, no pressure
You're not a booking to us. Every retreat starts with a conversation, and a real person replies, usually within a day. No deposit is taken until your dates and details are confirmed together.
- Write to us: a WhatsApp message or email with your rough dates and how many of you there are. That's all we need to begin.
- We talk: a short call or exchange to understand what you're looking for, and to be honest with you about whether this retreat is the right fit.
- We prepare everything: flights within Nepal, the lodge, transport, practices tailored to your group. You book your international flight, we hold the rest.
